Full Moon Rituals

What are the best full Moon rituals?

Full moons are an energetic time, the moon is in its full phase it has the power to raise tides. Just like the ocean we have an energetic shift during this time, our bodies are 70% water. If you pay close enough attention you can see this. Children and animals are the best examples of this surge of energy and emotions but adults are affected just as much. You may notice this more during other full moon cycles depending on the planetary alignment or zodiac signs. So what can we do during Full moons to give us a sense of balance and ease as we go through this cycle?

Take a moment to reflect on what you are feeling and what seems to be coming up. Depending on your zodiac sign, lifestyle, memories, etc. this can bring up all kinds of emotions. A great place to start is by being open to what is there—without judgment just taking in what is coming up. This is great to do in an intentional space. An area in your home that feels like a safe space for you to turn inward.

When doing a deep dive into unresolved emotions, memories, and stories it's important to have a safe way of releasing what is no longer serving by creating an environment that supports your inward journey. The full moon is a great time to purge what you have been holding on to. By using the elements around us we can create a ritual during this energetic time to help clear negative energy.

Full Moon Ritual

Start by taking a bath or shower. Water is a great purifier for the body. If you have ever been to a temple or some religions have a process for this, you notice that a shower or bath is the first step. This is because water washes away energetic connections we have had throughout the day, making us more receptive.

Next, cleanse your space by using fire. Fire has been known to be transformative and cleansing. By lighting candles you are igniting this transformation. See the Aura cleansing video. Fire is also an element that naturally opens us up to again become more receptive.

What intentions should I set on a full moon?

Along with fire burning incense or sage to clear the space is another way to use the elements of air and ether during this process.

After you have set intentional space it's time to do the real work. Sit in this space and allow yourself to relax. As you start to let yourself and your walls come down just watch what comes up. Using a journal to write what emotions or memories have been weighing on you gives you insight into what is going on beneath the surface. Take your time here, don't rush it. "When you have emotions just feel them, feel them deeply, and feel them all the way through."

Full moons are a time for reflection, clearing space and clearing your mind

If you want to take this time to manifest or set intentions do the same thing by journaling. Only this time imagine you are receiving whatever it is that you want and feel all the emotions that are coming to you. Feel all the emotions as if it's true.

Once you have written out everything that could be weighing on you or your goals and desires for your life. Take the time to close your eyes and release all that you have written down. I like to use this technique when my mind is heavy or racing. I first journal and brain dump so that I can sit for meditation with a clear mind.

Full moon rituals are an excellent way to tap into the powerful energy of the moon and manifest your goals and intentions. By taking time to reflect, meditate, and create an altar, you can make the most of the full moon’s energy and create meaningful rituals.
