Ayurveda & Alkeme
Rituals are routines or habits we can incorporate into our daily lives to help us balance our inner and outer worlds.
What drew me to Ayurveda was my own need to heal myself. I had suffered from what seemed like unexplained eczema, along with feeling fatigued, bloated, and not feeling like I was running with optimal energy. Ayurveda was something that was brought into my life at first by chance, and I will admit I wasn't ready for it. I was very skeptical and harped on the "I don't have time to eat at these specific times" or "Who gets up before 6 am every morning?!"
It seems like the initial introduction didn't make a lasting impression, but it did leave a mark on my mind. Years later as I became more interested in my spiritual growth, I discovered various Masters and teachers I connected with. Eventually, I found my way back to Ayurveda, this time with a much more open mind.
I had found that the concepts of ayurveda made a lot of sense and it felt like my body and spirit were naturally drawn to these rituals. It's as if I've done them before but didn't remember until they were sparked again. With this newfound enthusiasm, I have decided to fully immerse myself in it. I obtained my certification under Deepak Chopra to deepen my understanding and help share the knowledge of ayurveda.
With all the new knowledge and inherit wisdom I intuitively felt I became aware of the need for rituals in this modern day society.
In today's society, we tend to follow the schedule imposed on us by work or social events rather than paying attention to our natural circadian rhythms. We often forget that we are deeply connected to the Earth and are influenced by its seasonal changes, lunar cycles, and daily fluctuations. When we are out of sync with these natural rhythms, we may experience:
Fatigued
Anixous
Depressed
Unbalanced
Skin rashes
Digestion issues
Ayurveda is a preventative medicine.
"If you think you don't have time to take care of yourself now, just wait until you get sick"
Preventative medicine can look like this:
Creating rituals that help the transition of seasons
Creating daily practice like meditiating or breathwork to balance your system. (There is so much research now that shows how medititaion and breathwork changes our cortisol levels, nervous system, etc)
Taking 10 mins daily for yourself so you dont burn out
Connecting with what your body, mind, and spirit needs on a daily basis.
Creating an Intentional Space
Preventative medicine can be fun and something you enjoy doing. Each ritual we will share will take about 5-10 mins that will be done either in the morning, afternoon or evening.
Why Create an Intentional Space?
Most people don't think about preventative medicine and creating a space or altar in your home as being connected. But here's how they are.
When you have a designated spot in your home that serves as a visual reminder for a habit, you are more likely to follow through with it. While we may believe that we don't need reminders, our brains resist change and will find reasons to encourage us to carry out healthy tasks. By associating a task with something simple, like lighting candles, we can use a strong visual cue and an easy action to kick-start the habit.
Create a comfortable space for yourself and add items that bring you joy, such as blankets, incense, and crystals. Let this space evolve over time, just like your daily rituals. Start with rituals that excite you, and as they become part of your daily practice, add on other rituals or revisit any that you had hesitations about. Ultimately, these daily rituals are a guide to help you connect with your inner self and the natural world around you.
My mission with Alkeme is to be the guide by sharing rituals and products that help assist us in our journey to create a more balanced life for ourselves and those around us.
